Pickleball has exploded in popularity, and with that growth comes evolving rules. The USA Pickleball 2025 Rulebook sets the standard for recreational and tournament play. Here’s a clear breakdown of the essentials:

🎯 Basic Game Rules

  • Scoring: Games are typically played to 11 points, win by 2. Only the serving team can score.

  • Double Bounce Rule: After the serve, each side must let the ball bounce once before volleys are allowed.

  • Faults: A fault occurs if the ball goes out of bounds, doesn’t clear the net, or is volleyed illegally.

🎾 Serving Rules

🚫 Non‑Volley Zone (Kitchen)

  • The 7‑foot area on either side of the net is the non‑volley zone.

  • Players cannot volley (hit the ball out of the air) while standing in this zone.

  • You may enter the kitchen to play a ball that has bounced, but must exit before volleying again.

👥 Doubles Rules

  • Partners alternate serves and sides.

  • The first serving team only gets one serve turn; after that, each team gets two turns (one per player).

  • Communication is key — faults often occur when partners misjudge who should take the ball.
